Pop the cork and raise your glasses- it’s time to host a cheese and champagne evening and elevate your hosting game! We’re delving into the art of combining two of life’s greatest indulgences, cheese and champagne.
Oh là là, darlings! What could be more divine at 5 in the evening, surrounded by savory cheeses, than a glass of sparkling Champagne?
Setting the Scene to host a cheese and champagne evening
Set the table with crisp white linens, vintage silverware, and delicate china. Add a touch of romance with elegant candles for soft, warm lighting. Fresh flowers in a simple, stylish arrangement bring a touch of elegance and softness to the ambience. I love to use peonies or ranunculus on the table.

Choosing the Right Champagne
Selecting the perfect champagne to complement your cheeseboard is an art in itself. Opt for a crisp, dry Brut for a versatile pairing that balances the richness of the cheeses. For a touch of elegance, consider a vintage champagne or a rosé with its delicate fruity notes. Serve the champagne chilled in crystal flutes to elevate the experience.

Cheese Pairings for a host a cheese and champagne evening
Start with a selection of cheeses that offer a range of flavors and consistencies. My favorites are a creamy Brie, sharp Roquefort, nutty Comté, and a delightful Chèvre. These French cheeses pair well with champagne since the champagne enhances all of their flavors. The champagne cuts through the creaminess of the Brie and the Chèvre, while enhancing the nutty flavor of the Comté and compliments the saltiness of the Roquefort with its sweetness. These are surrounded by delicate sesame seed crackers, a medley of honey-roasted cashews and pistachios, thinly sliced dried apricots, and walnuts coated in a blend of cinnamon and sugar. Arrange everything artfully on a rustic wooden board, adding a touch of nature with sprigs of fresh herbs.

You’re the Hostess with the Mostess right?!
What should you wear, darling? This question is the most exciting of all, after all, if the hostess isn’t as dazzling as the soirée, can it truly be considered a success?

I don’t like being too overdressed for a house party, especially if I’m the one hosting. Hosting requires a certain level of comfort, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style. That said, I recommend a classy outfit that is elegant and effortless like a flowy little black dress or tweed pant outfit paired with elegant flats.

Endless Rose Sleeveless Knit Slim Mini Dress, Anthropologie, $C160.00.
If you’d like something more elevated or want to add some dimension to your look, think of a velvet top, a silk skirt, or a cashmere sweater. Each piece should evoke the same richness and complexity as a fine wine.
I am so excited to learn about your favorite wine and cheese pairings, plus, what you wear as THE stylish hostess with the mostess!
