What to Wear from Winter to Spring: Easy Transitional Outfits to Try

As winter begins to thaw and the first whispers of spring dance through the air, it’s time to elevate your wardrobe. If you find it difficult to put together transitional outfits for these in-between seasons here is a guide to what’s in for the last bit of winter for 2025 and some pre-spring trends.

Chunky knits with big buttons are the perfect statement top for a casual day look or even professional office attire. I like to pair my chunky knits with denim pants.

Knit vests are a big one this 2025. We saw them become very popular this winter and I feel like they are here to stay. The versatility of a knit vest with exposed arms allows you to wear it as a in place of a jacket on warmer spring days and it’s a good layering piece on the colder one. My favourite knit vests have round neck, front pockets and elegant buttons.

Cable knits have become increasingly popular especially as an overlayer for cool summer nights as a soft tie shoulder cape look. I love the finer cableknit since its more versatile for spring summer layering and perfect for a variety of capsule wardrobe collections. Imagine tossing a fine cable knit sweater over your shoulders as the sun sets on a cool summer evening, effortlessly combining practicality and elegance. It’s those little touches that can elevate your entire outfit.

Tennis dresses are making a chic comeback this Spring 2025! I’d recommend the ones that are more winter-esque would be tennis dresses in chocolate brown, olive green, navy blue and mustard yellow. These colors are more compatible for the winter. Olive green provides a sophisticated palette that pairs wonderfully with lightweight trench coats, adding a touch of refinement to your spring wardrobe. Navy blue tennis dresses can be elevated with sleek leather jackets.

Side striped trouser or sweatpants I see are making a comeback with their 70s vibe. The athleisure-inspired side-striped sweatpants, perfectly combined with a structured blazer can be a bold look.

Plaid is also a very in pattern this season. I see it in jackets, mini dresses and large printed on knits. I like how a corduroy mini skirt and plaid top can look or a plaid wool trouser and a chunky cable knit cardigan with gold military buttons. The plaid is also a Gingham Plaid pattern in a mustard yellow brown colour sequence which I find quite charming!

Cuffed denim is very elegant and one of my favorite type of denim pants. Its screams vintage Gucci to me for some reason- I can just picture a beautiful pair of wide leg straight cut cropped cuffed denim with a square toe Lady horsebit-embellished leather sling-backs in cognac and a high-quality white shirt.

If you know me, you know that burgundy is my favorite colour to wear in the fall and winter. It is so chic and can be playful and glamourous. For the transitional season this 2025, burgundy can be found in the Argyle (diamond) pattern sweaters or two piece sets and a detail colour in outerwear sailor sweaters.
